Dão’s gastronomic richness
Viseu’s gastronomic richness is also evident in its history. It is said that, before the departure of the Portuguese for the conquest of Ceuta, Dão wine was served at the celebrations organised by Infante D. Henrique in Viseu.
In 1908, the Demarcated Region of Dão was instituted, becoming the first region of non-liqueur wines to be demarcated and regulated in Portugal.
The main grape varieties of Dão Wines are red, Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro black and white, Encruzado and Malvasia-Fina.

Beleza natural
Viseu in the heart of Nature
Viseu’s natural wealth is the result of its geography. The county is full of microclimates, enhanced by the transition zones between rivers and mountains.
The cosiness of the surrounding mountains (Estrela, Caramulo, Buçaco, Leomil, Montemuro and Arado), offer to Viseu a Mediterranean climate, with personality, characterised by cold winters and hot summers. On warmer days you can seek refuge in the green spaces of Mata do Fontelo, Parque Aquilino Ribeiro or Parque de Santiago.
